Unfortunately, Celeste Winston, author of How to Lose the Hounds: Maroon Geographies and a World Beyond Policing, had to cancel her February 6 talk. In place of this event, MCPS will host a webinar that will highlight how the River Road community, a historic African American community, has advocated to stop the erasure of its history. Community members will share what it was like growing up in the River Road community and the road to arguing their case, Bethesda African Cemetery Coalition, et al. v Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County, to stop the desecration of Moses Cemetery before the Supreme Court of Maryland. Students may earn up to 2 SSL hours for attending.
